SCHOLARSHIP RESULTS 2012
In 2012 Scholarships were awarded to 20 students in Art History, Biology, Economics, English, Geography, History, Media Studies, Physical Education, Science and Visual Arts - Painting.
Outstanding Scholarships were awarded to Amelia Cina in English and in Geography and to Fenella Deans in Science.
Nelson College for Girls congratulates Amelia Cina on her 2012 New Zealand Scholarship Outstanding Scholar Award. Outstanding Scholars each receive $5,000 per year for up to three yeras of tertiary study.

DUX FOR 2012

Alexandra Tonks
Alexandra was named Dux at Nelson College for Girls' Senior Prizegiving Awards held recently at the College. Allie was awarded the Year 13 Network Tasman Award, the Award for Scholarship, Character and Contribution to the College, and the Atmore Memorial Scholarship and Christie Award to the Dux of the College.
Allie is an exceptional young woman who has been an outstanding inaugural Academic Leader, developing the mentoring programme which has seen over 30 seniors working with younger students in their own time assisting with homework problems. Allie also helped organise the first Academic Decathlon for the Nelson Region. She has studied five subjects this year achieving 1st in all of them - English, History, Mathematics with Statistics and Modelling, Biology and Chemistry. At the recent Nelson Tasman Science and Technology Fair, Allie received a Gold Technology Award and a Supreme Award. Following on from her interest in algae, Allie is also a recipient of a Bayerboost Scholarship and will be hosted by the Cawthron Institute to continue her study into the toxic algae bloom in the Marlborough Sounds. As well as her academic achievements, Allie is an active member of the Nelson City Youth Council and a mentor in the BigBrothersBigSisters programme where she works with a primary aged girl.

Calling all past students of Nelson College for Girls who have represented New Zealand in any senior sporting event. We would like to have a Wall of Fame in our new Health & Fitness Centre with your name on it. If you, or someone you know, has achieved this please contact the Head of PE at the College.
