Uniform Sales
If you are ordering a new kilt, please order direct from Apparel
Direct Marketing the official kilt-maker for the College (see below
for more information). For all other gear and second hand kilts, visit
the Nelson College for Girls Uniform Shop located beside the Music Rooms
- follow the path on the right hand side of the main gates, or just ask
at the main school reception area.
Some new uniform items are available at Postie
Plus, and Korkers sandals are available from Korkers Sandal Co, Wakatu
Lane, Nelson.
Second Hand Uniform Sales
At the end of the year and on specific days during January, we hold
second hand uniform sales along with new items. Dates are advertised in
The Nelson Mail at that time and on the About/Welcome page.
NB: Second hand items may not always be available and the prices for
second hand items may vary according to condition of garment. Prices are
GST inclusive.
Overview
Second hand kilts are available from the uniform shop. New kilts are
to be ordered from Apparel
Direct Marketing, either via their website
or by using the Kilt
Order Form.
Apparel Direct Marketing is the official kiltmaker for our College,
and provides a made-to-order regulation garment. The new poly/wool twill
kilt is an all-year-round garment designed to grow with your daughter.
Please read the notes below and make careful measurements.
All kilts are manufactured from a poly/wool twill yarn to the very highest
specifications and come standard with a double feathered edge, two adjustable
buckles, a zipped pocket and a generous hem allowance. Apparel Direct
Marketing also offers an alteration service for kilts to accommodate lengthening,
shortening, letting out or in.

Please note there is an additional cost of $9.00 for packaging and postage.
Payment
- A layby system is available.
- Payment may be made by Visa, Mastercard, or by cheque.
- Cheques must be written out to Apparel Direct Marketing
and market "Not Transferable".
- If a Trust Fund, Income Support or CYFS is to be involved in the payment,
please notify Apparel Direct Marketing so a quote can be sent to the
appropriate department early to avoid any delays.
Tips on measuring
- Ensure that measurement around waist allows for clothing which will
be worn with kilt.
- Tape measure should move comfortably around the body.
- Length: means from the bottom of the waistband to
regulation length. This does not include the hem. A generous hem allowance
is made in addition to length. Please ensure that the kilt is within
the regulation length. The regulation length is 5cm
below the knee.
- If waist or length measurement falls outside of the 5cm sizing bracket,
your kilt will be made to the next 5cm sizing.
Procedure for Order
- Measure your daughter, paying careful attention to the following notes
and record the
measurements on the attached order form.
NOTE:
- Length means from bottom of waistband to the regulation length.
Regulation length
is 5cm below the knee. A kilt which is too short or too long will not
be acceptable. This measurement does not include the hem. A generous
hem allowance is made in addition to length.
- Waist – around the waist reasonably firm.
- Seat – this should be a comfortable measurement.
- Complete the other details on the order form.
- Send order form attached with a $50 non-refundable deposit to:

- An account will be sent to you from Apparel Direct Marketing before
the kilt is dispatched. If a receipt is required, please enclose a stamped,
addressed envelope. The kilt will be dispatched once the balance of payment
is received.
NOTE: If there are any changes in your circumstances after placing your
order, please contact Apparel Direct Marketing immediately.
