A special welcome to past pupils of Nelson College for Girls.

We have branches in Nelson, Auckland, Christchurch, Waikato, Wanganui, Marlborough, Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay.

125th Jubilee: 22 - 24 February 2008

On Friday 22 February 2008 the sun shone on Nelson College for Girls for t the 125th Jubilee Celebrations. The Swimming Sports in the morning was followed by a procession to the new Health Health & Fitness centre & Fitness Centre accompanied by music from the Jazz Band. His Excellency, the Governor General, Anand Satyanand officially opened the “Alison McAlpine Health & Fitness Centre” in honour of the retiring Principal.

The Jubilee bricks lead the visitors up the ramp into the Centre whose floor space, at 1,258 sq m, is larger than the size of an international netball court. The Centre also provides offices for staff, a teaching room and fitness equipment.

THE ARCHIVE ROOM

The NCGOGA has been fundraising for some time towards an Archives Resource Room at the College. The proceeds of memorabilia sales at the 125th Jubilee has complemented the ongoing fundraising and NCGOGA President, Kathy Cuthbert, formally presented the Archives Resource Room to the College as the 125th Jubilee Gift at the Jubilee Assembly.

The Archives Resource Room is located upstairs in the main foyer and includes display cabinets featuring precious gifts and mementos of the life of the College. There are also photographs and articles displayed and visitors will be able to access archival materials on DVD, Video and on computer.

THE SCHOOL ON THE HILL Karen Price (Frost) 1980-84 compiled this wonderful publication to celebrate our 125th Jubilee. Karen has collected photos and stories of the history of the College. The book is unique in that it reflects our history through the photos, anecdotal snippets and recollections of our students.

Karen was ably supported and assisted by our College Archivist, Libby MacCreadie and our sincere thanks are due to both Karen and Libby for their painstaking research and production of this wonderful book.

Copies of this book are available at NZ$39.95 plus $4 postage within New Zealand.
