Nelson Experience

Nelson Experience is a course for international students from all over the world. It is a fantastic opportunity to get to know other international students as well as the local culture. You get the chance to do amazing outdoor activities like mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, abseiling, sailing, snorkelling, tramping and a lot more.

Students tell us that it has been the best thing they have done in their year in New Zealand. While doing all of these activities the group grew so close that at the end they felt like sisters! Nelson Experience, is an unforgettable “once in a lifetime” experience.

Near the end of Term 4, when New Zealand students are sitting National Examinations, the Nelson Experience group participate in "extended activities". The students take part in expeditions which might include sea kayaking in the Abel Tasman National Park and tramping in Kahurangi National Park. This provides an opportunity for students to see more of the beautiful flora and fauna that New Zealand has to offer, as well has allowing the students to learn vital life skills. Skills such as planning food requirements, learning how to cope in different weather conditions, clothing needs, safety requirements, group work, organisational skills and leadership are positive outcomes from these expeditions. The expeditions are all fully supervised
